Nomocharis

Nomocharis is the name of a genus of the lily family (Liliaceae). It consists of only a few species. The genus is closely related to the lily (Lilium) and Fritillaria, which some species were counted before and are now counted, the boundaries between genres are relatively fluent.

Description

Nomocharis grow from egg-shaped to ovate-rounded onion and 25-100 (rarely 150) cm high. The flat, slightly cupped flower consists of six petals, their colors - depending on the type - from white to pink, red and purple to a pale violet differ, the inner bracts are often patterned.

Distribution

All species of the genus are skiing in the southwest of the People's Republic of China, and is home bordering Myanmar and India. They prefer cool, moist locations in the shade in humus soil.

Systematics

The genus was first described in 1889 by Adrien René Franchet and includes seven species, taxonomically complicated than is given to the classification of the group Nomocharis aperta and Nomocharis forrestii why sometimes only six or eight species are listed.
