Glaucidium palmatum

Glaucidium palmatum is the only species of the genus Glaucidium Glaucidioideae and the subfamily in the family of the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae).

Features

Glaucidium palmatum is a perennial herbaceous plant, 20-40 cm plant height reached. It forms a rhizome. The stem bears two leaves and a terminal flower.

The basal leaves are lobed palmately divided to have a more or less circular outline and a heart-shaped blade on the base. Their stems are 10-15 inches long.

The flowers have a diameter of 50-10 centimeters. The perianth is simple. The four bracts are colored bright blue, purple, rarely white.

The two carpels are fused together at the base, and the fruit VIELSAM time bellows. The flowering period extends from April to May.

Occurrence

Glaucidium palmatum is in Japan on Hokkaido, as well as northern and central Honshu in mountain forests.
