Avena sativa

Seed oats or Real oats (Avena sativa) is a cereal of the genus oats (Avena) within the family of grasses (Poaceae).

The average income stagnated at about 50 dt / ha, because oats are processed in breeding little. For this reason, the cultivation of oats is economically less attractive for farmers.

Much of the harvest in Germany is now used for animal feed production. Oats are also used for cereal preparations, such as oatmeal, cereals, salad, bread and porridge.
