Butea monosperma System

System
The first description of the taxon under Erythrina monosperma Lam. by the French botanist Jean-Baptiste de Lamarck published 1786th The German botanist Paul Hermann Wilhelm Taubert moved in 1894 to this basionym, the type ordered, but under the name of Butea monosperma in the genus Butea. Another synonym for the species is Butea frondosa Roxb. ex Willd ..

The genus name Butea recalls John Stuart, Earl of Bute, to be honored for the promotion of botanical studies. The epithet monosperma derives from the fact that each fruit contains only one seed.

There are two forms of Malabar lacquer tree, with gray bark and Charka Kareya with dark bark. Kareya will be better accepted by the lac and therefore more often used for growing.
